Music inspired art work
On the Home page in the Diary section I'm showing the artwork I finished painting this year that goes with the songs from 'That Girl' and 'Sunlight On My Soul'.
The 'Sunlight' ones tell a story so start at number one.
I'll put them all in a gallery of their own soon but wanted to give them a little bit of lime light. Plus I'm working in the flower shop for the run up to Christmas and you've seen photos of my holly wreaths, I love them but I thought these are more in keeping with who I really am.
New Years resolution....BE MORE AND MORE OF WHO YOU REALLY ARE AND LESS AND LESS OF WHO YOU ARE NOT.
I will be back, I think, but if I'm not have a lovely seasonal break. Find things that make you smile. It helps keep the blues away. Remember someone somewhere loves you, even if, as in my case it's only my sister's daft but lovely dog.
New demos
I've put some new demos up on Myspace....
'Don't Give Up On Me'
'Day To Remember'
'Angel'
'Don't Throw It Away'
New Album 2010
Great news!!
We have started recording and are aiming to release the next album in Spring/Summer 2010!
It'll be perfect, there's a couple of really summery tunes on there.
It's a very exciting time for me. We've been listening through all the songs I've written since 'Sunlight', choosing our favourites and working out the best order for the album.
I love it!!
Art Exhibition at Cafe Ambio, Astley Hall.
Astley Hall is one of the most significant buildings in the North West, with a fascinating history of families who lived there and some magnificent architecture.
This grade 1 listed building is the jewel in Chorley's crown. The historic building's surroundings have undergone a dramatic change over the last year as part of the £2m Astley Park upgrade. The Coach House and Walled Garden are now completed.
The history of the Hall itself is full of intrigue, with stories of plotting and religious turmoil. It dates back to Elizabethan times with changes and additions over the centuries, all helping make a visit to the Hall a fascinating and enjoyable experience.
The new look Coach House has an art gallery on the first floor and Café Ambio officially opened on Tuesday 12th May.
For the next 6 weeks photography and artwork by David Toase, Stephanie Kirkham and Micheal Ashcroft will be on display.
The café is open seven days a week, 9am until 5pm, Monday-Friday and weekends 9am-6pm.
New Demos.
There are three new song ideas on myspace....

Why
Charming Man

The snowdrops are starting to open.
I know it seems quiet, what with the band going separate ways but I have new songs bubbling away and sooner or later things will start to change.
Just like the frozen ground eventually warms enough to let the first shoots of Spring appear. Good things are happening and it starts with a thought and then it grows. It starts invisible and then suddenly you see.
I feel very excited and hopeful right now, and right now is where the power is I'm told, and I believe it!
I don't know why I'm chatting on here I should be in the Diary section.
I'm just waving at you!
My sister just came in and handed me a piece of paper and it's a quote from Charles Darwin...
"It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change."
Interesting.
New songs on the way!
I've been writing new ideas and can't wait to get them recorded!

Also, if you're in the Preston area on the 29th March, I'll be singing at a charity evening being held in the memory of Stu Burke at Broughton Village Hall.
On 22 April 2007, the day of the last London Marathon, Stuart Burke sadly passed away due to Epilepsy (sudep).
Stu was a keen runner, and had often talked about wanting to run the London Marathon. He won't get a chance now, and so three of his friends, Ben, Chris and Dom are going to run it for him, in his memory. They are raising funds for a charity who work hard to offer help and support to epilepsy sufferers.
If you would like to see how the fundraising is doing and perhaps sponsor the good cause please visit www.justgiving.com/stuburkememory or perhaps I'll see you on the day!

Designer Magazine Review
January 26th 2006 "Sunlight On My Soul" sees Stephanie sounding more confident and her songwriting skills showing a growing maturity.
"Show Me What You’re Made Of" is a touch folky, with Kirkham’s sweet seductive voice not unlike a certain Erin McKeown…
"The vocals are so natural and soothing which makes for pleasurable listening throughout the album."
….."’January Day’ is a romantic view on the first month of the year with very observant and insightful lyrics."
"Sunlight On My Soul" is a real breath of fresh air, an organic beautifully realized set of songs with a voice to fall in love with."
January 24th 2006 Stephanie Kirkham - Sunlight On My Soul SLK Music
"There’s a relaxing momentum to these folk tinged songs that are densely lyrical, every word is clearly pronounced, and the clarity of the crisp calm airy vocals are delightfully lackadaisical … ‘January Day’ sounds like it’s a show-stopping confessional taken from a musical, and there’s a folksy edge washing around the periphery of most of the albums eleven songs … In fact it’s a guaranteed winner! "
January 16th 2006 Stephanie Kirkham - Sunlight On My Soul SLK Music
The first of two new reviews is from leading roots music website Net Rhythms.
" … A bit Kate, a bit Harriet Wheeler, a bit Sarah McLachlan and even, at times, a bit Bjork, … it’s all underpinned by a strong sense of melody that insinuates the songs into your mental bloodstream …"
"….anyone in search of a New Age Katie Melua will be well content."
The second new review is from the online edition of the Evening Times, Scotland’s top selling evening newspaper
" … if you like Kate Bush then you’ll enjoy the delicate voice of Stephanie Kirkham … If you’re looking to escape the January blues, I recommend this album. It’s really quite hypnotic … "
Read them both in full in the Sunlight Reviews Section
Evening Telegraph Review
January 12th 2006 Stephanie Kirkham - Sunlight On My Soul SLK Music
Sunlight will make Stephanie a star.
"Stephanie Kirkham hasn’t enjoyed Katie Melua’s meteoric rise, but all the signs are that 2006 should be a very good year for the Preston-born singer-songwriter.
Her vocal style has been compared to just about everybody from Kate Bush to Bjork, Enya to Jewel, but she has a highly-individual style and an obvious gift for writing that should stand her in good stead."
January 10th 2006 Stephanie Kirkham - Sunlight On My Soul SLK Music
"Sunlight On My Soul is a sweet little gem of an album. Delicate and spare, with delicious lightness, this is clearly a singer-songwriter for whom ‘art’ is not a tag carelessly applied to her music, but an integral part of each song. This is so much more believable an album than Kate Bush’s Aerial, and much more likeable as a result. The introspection adds depth to the melodic core throughout."
January 9th 2006 The album "Sunlight On My Soul is now available to order online at the following sites.
The album will also be available worldwide in itunes and other digital services, as well as the download single "Show Me What You’re Made Of"from January 30th.

Debut Single and Video
24/06/2003 Inappropriate, the first single from Stephanie Kirkham's debut album That Girl, will be released by Hut Recordings on 11th August 2003. Uplifting and decidedly infectious, Inappropriate evokes memories of first loves and images of long carefree summer days, all bound together to create close to four minutes of perfect pop. Written by Stephanie and delivered in her own inimitably straightforward style, Inappropriate provides the ideal introduction to a fresh female vocalist with a uniquely English sound. The single, which will be released on CD, will be accompanied by a stunning video directed by Katie Bell. Shot on location at Great Windsor Park and set against a lush, dreamy backdrop, it takes us on a magical journey deep into the forest and into Stephanie's enchanted world. The enhanced CD single will feature the video and an additional track Bird of Prey. Watch the Inappropriate video and listen to the single in the Music/Video section.
